The Benefits of "Core Opening"
- Rob Gold, BSBA, RYT200, Yoga Therapist, Co-owner of River's Grace Yoga
Svaroopa® yoga (pronounced swa-roo-pa) uses supportive props and well-aligned variations of classical poses to reliably unravel tensions held deep within the body. This approach creates a “Core Opening” that promotes healing, personal transformation and provides an illuminative experience of your own divine essence; which is the goal of all yoga.
Core Opening is the term used to describe the purposeful release of powerful muscles located behind the abdominal organs and in front of the vertebrae that influence the hips, pelvis, sacrum and tailbone. The release of these muscles results in decompression of the spine improving circulation and function of the organs, systems of the body and relief from the underlying cause of so many physical troubles associated with the spinal vertebrae and surrounding soft tissues such as: sciatica, joint pain, migraines, hyperflexibility, poor digestive, reproductive or circulatory function and stress.
Core Opening also provides a necessary release and increased awareness that supports the transition from using muscles to “hold us together” to a more grounded and healthy state where the bones and skeletal structure of our body are the means of support, after all this is why we have them! And by using bones correctly they not only support us and grow stronger but provide further muscular release and longstanding health benefits as well.
